2011 Renewable Energy Programs Application Deadlines

We are announcing application deadlines for several renewable energy and energy efficiency assistance programs authorized by the 2008 Farm Bill and offered by USDA Rural Development. The programs and their deadlines are as follows:

Renewable Energy for America Program (REAP) - This program offers Loan Guarantee and grant assistance to small businesses (SBA definition) located in rural areas and agriculture producers who are developing a renewable energy project or installing energy efficiency improvements in existing business or agricultural facilities. The application deadline for state allocated funds is May 31, 2011. Please note that there will be an application deadline published Federal Register that will announce a different deadline for applications to be funded from reserve funds on a nationally competitive basis. Each state however will get an allocation of funds to use within each state. I have attached an application template for small grant applications to assist in developing an application. Payments to Eligible Advanced Biofuel Producers (Section 9005) - This program provides payments to producers of Advanced Biofuels to support and ensure an expanding production of advanced biofuels. The attached Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) announces the signup deadline for 2011 payments. The deadline for 2011 payments is May 10, 2011. Previously the signup was announced for the 2010 payments and that deadline (April 12, 2011) remains in effect.
Biorefinery Assistance Program (Section 9003) - This program offers guaranteed loans (up to $250 million) for the development and construction of commercial scale biorefineries or for the retrofitting of existing facilities using eligible technology for the development of advanced biofuels. The application deadline for 2011 funds is May 10, 2011. Please see the attached Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) for additional information.
Repowering Assistance Payments to Eligible Biorefineries (Section 9004) - This program provides payments to eligible biorefineries to encourage the use of renewable biomass as a replacement fuel source for fossil fuels used to provide process heat or power in the operation of these eligible biorefineries. Applications will be received for 2011 funds until June 9, 2011. Please see the attached Notice of Funds Availability (NOFA) for additional information.
